WA’s Celebrity Signature Dish
Sunday 4th June
WA Day is in full swing!! And this weekend to celebrate, not only have we been given an extra long weekend (a pupil free day Friday too) but Elizabeth Quay will be packed to the rafters with food, music, performances and so much more to celebrate. If there’s one thing us West Aussies know how to do, it’s celebrate!!
This year I’m honoured to be involved in WA Day’s highlight event – WA’s Celebrity Signature Dish by Buy West Eat Best on Sunday 4th of June which is a cooking competition promoting Western Australia’s beautiful and abundant local produce. I have been passionate about amazing local produce for some time now and I can’t wait to show you what we have come up with!
Along side Justin Langer, Mark Gibson and Pete Curulli we’ve have been teamed up with prominent Perth chefs and been given a region to use as our ‘hero ingredients’. With these ‘helo ingredients’ we have to come up with a dish with what we think that best represents Western Australia.
We will be battling it out in a live cooking competition on centre stage from 1.30pm on Sunday. Judging us will be Dan Masters (Rockpool Perth) who is joining as Head Judge alongside fellow judges Rob Broadfield (The West Australian food critic) and Anna Gare. With such well known foodie names like this you know we’re in for a treat (not to mention some seriously tough judging).
The regions we are cooking from are the Kimberley, Southern Forests, Swan Valley and Peel so not only do we get to use the freshest and most abundant local produce in WA but we have been given the opportunity to showcase what West Aussie food is all about. There will be fierce competitiveness amongst us and probably terrible banter. Haha.
Come down and celebrate everything that is West Australian. Music, food, sports, arts and culture, there’s endless entertainment and heaps of fun for everyone.
Best of all…. it’s free!
