Throwing a birthday party is never easy, especially when you only ever decide to throw one with 48 hours notice. Yes, I’m a last minute kind of gal… Here’s how I did.
Within 2 weeks of each other my baby Van turned 4 and Lux turned 6. Yes, I know we all say it but where the hell has the time gone!!!!!
Now with birthday’s comes the birthday parties. I’ve never been one on big expensive kids parties and the house rule is that they are only allowed one every second year. This year was Lux’s year and boy did we pull off a showstopper.
This is generally the time where I say I spent 2 weeks organising a 6 year old birthday party. Running around like a headless chook, hunting and gathering everything I needed for the greatest 6 year old party of all time but the truth is, I didn’t. Nope, I definitely didn’t, not at all…
Enter Game Vault and the reason why I currently hold the bragging rights to being the ‘coolest mum ever’. At exactly 4pm on a Thursday afternoon in rolls the Game Vault truck.
The video game bus is one of the most unique kids birthday party ideas that I’ve come across. The kids were totally immersed in the limousine styled truck for a whole hour. They learnt team skills, battle skills and best of all, they had an absolute ball in electronic gaming land.
There were heaps of games to choose from including dancing and sport and the instructors were amazing! Holding the kids absolute attention for the whole hour is no easy feat.
But the best part for me… I got to sit back with my cheese platter and sparkling while the whole crazy party was going on. I hate to admit it but for me, it doesn’t get much better than that. Haha.

Now, can we please take a moment….. SweetEATS you have out done yourself!!
This incredible creation by SweetEATS was phenomenal. Not only did they nail the brief above expectations but the cake was absolutely delicious!!! Super pretty and tastes good too??!! That’s a massive win in my book. Make sure you check out their cookies too!! They’re to die for.
