The perfect day to spread the love.
In my early twenties Valentines Day was always about the chocolate, roses and perhaps a cheeky pieces of jewellery. In my late twenties it became about the food, a nice romantic dinner somewhere summed up the perfect Valentines Day night.
Now that I’m in my ‘extremely’ early thirties I can’t think of anything worse that going out to an overpriced dinner, eating from a set menu, sitting on top of one another and getting kicked out for the next sitting Valentines Day sitting. Store bought roses with no scent and chocolates don’t really float my boat anymore, so what does?
Valentines Day for me is moving away from the traditional crapola typical things we would do and towards little acts of kindness shown to me and the little acts of kindness I can show to someone else.
A sleep in would be lovely! Or if I feel like going for a run coming home with lunches packed and kids ready for school would be amazing! A cheeky bottle of Verve shared with my husband over a delicious home cooked meal (or great takeaway) with phones turned off would be the best Valentines Day ever.
Spreading the love on Valentines Day outside of the family unit is on top of my list this year and I need some help from you. I doesn’t sound like much but something as little as randomly paying for someone’s coffee or actually giving the homeless man you’ve walked past a million times before some small change are two things I have set out to do on the 14th.
What are some small acts of kindness we can do to spread the love this Valentines Day? And who knows, we might actually love doing it so much that we won’t wait until next year to do it again.
Let me know! Challenge your friends and family. I would love to hear from you.
Happy Valentines Day!!!
