One week after my sister Tawni turned 18 she up and moved to Melbourne. We couldn’t decide if it was the third child syndrome, the need to break away from the sisters or the fire in her belly to become an actress that made her do it.
What ever the need to move at the time, I have always admired Tawni’s sheer grit and determination to do things on her own. She was driven by this massive desire to really make something of herself, to give one of the hardest industries in the world a red hot go. Nothing was going to stop her.
For years Tawni slaved away in restaurants and cafes to make sure she had enough money to pay rent and put herself through expensive acting schools. She worked her butt off, most of the time juggling two jobs, acting auditions, acting school and also an events management course at Tafe that she completed just in case her dreams shifted. All of this whilst being away from a very large, very close knit family.
She spent a year in LA which was one of the best but still hardest years of her life.
On her return to Melbourne she flew to Perth for an audition and landed her first role in a low budget feature film. Tawni spent a month here filming and has just come back for the premiere of the movie, Foreshadow.
We were all out in force on Wednesday night for the premiere and we couldn’t be prouder of our Tawni Rose. Seeing her up on the big screen was a real buzz.
I’m not sure if I will ever get used to sitting in an audience with all of the actors right beside us, but I sure will try and I’m positive it wont be the last time it will happen.
Tawni has just finished filming an exciting TV show. She can’t tell us anything about it apart from the fact that it will be show on channel 9 early next year so watch this space, big things to come for this little fire cracker.
Forshadow is a schi-fi thriller and will be shown at Hoyts cinemas from Friday 8th November. If you get a chance for a movie night head out and see it. We loved it and it’s great to support Australian movies especially movies filmed in our home town of Perth.
Congratulations Tawni!!! We have always pictured you up in lights sis and we are so excited for things to come.
