International Women’s Day at Frasers
What I love about the decade we are living in is that most of us have choice. Two or three decades ago women felt that if they weren’t stay at home mothers they were bad mothers, or at least that was the opinion of most of society. Women who decided to enter into business in those times were groundbreakers and it’s because of these women that we have equal opportunities today. In this day and age, we have the opportunity to be or do what ever we want but most importantly, we can be proud of our choices.
I choose to do my best at both. As much I don’t want to book my kids into full time day-care, I also want to run my own business. I want to be there for my kids and I also want to fill my own time with things that I want to do and for me this is a balance of both worlds. Being creative and making a difference with what I do and sharing my stories is a very important part of my life.
It’s no secret that I wouldn’t be where I am today without a fantastic support system and that has to include being around likeminded women who inspire each other.
You might like read my piece on Galentine’s Day to get an insight into what this means for me.
To be successful in life depends not only on how well you collaborate with others but also how influential your network is. Even if you are the best at what you do, most opportunities will come from talking and connecting with people. As the age old saying goes ‘it’s not what you know but who you know’ that can help open doors for you.
I have been part of the Business Women Australia group for almost three years now and I’ve discovered a world of amazing women who are willing to support and encourage me to keep developing my skills.
I’m honoured to be hosting the Business Women Australia luncheon on International Women’s Day (March 8th) at Frasers Restaurant. It’s a magical day of celebrating all women past and present who have made big sacrifices to make positive change in our world. An elegant lunch complete with amazing food, wine and a gift box for every lady who attends. Why not gather your besties and join us! You can book your seat by clicking here.
International Women’s Day is celebrated all around the world and for us, this day also coincides with the launch of a book; Business Women Australia’s ‘16 Inspirational WA Women’. A book dedicated to sharing inspiring stories of Western Australian women who are really making a difference. I was so inspired by them I sponsored the book myself. Our Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi has endorsed the book with a beautiful forward expressing her own thoughts about the stories portrayed.
You can’t help but be inspired by reading this book. It includes Sophie McNeil, ABC Correspondent living on the Gaza Strip with her husband and young family and Lhani Davies who lost her son and continues to fight against the use of Methanol in drinks in Indonesia. 16 Inspirational WA Women can be purchased here and will be available for purchase at the luncheon.
Hope to see you at the Business Women Australia lunch!!
