Sorry you haven’t heard from me for a few days. Some craziness came over me last week that couldn’t be ignored.
I had this massive urge to CULL. Ladies, if you have had a baby then you will know exactly what I am talking about. I went on this crazy nesting spree (this time without the nesting) and completely turned my place upside down.
What set me off was this moment where I was trying to squeeze my pram into a very cluttered storeroom. I was jamming away with all my might but could not for the life of me get the door shut as there was a scooter wheel in the way. As my violence with the door peaked I let out a mighty ‘ANDREW’ from which he sprinted out as I sounded like I was about to kill someone. Poor guy.
We made the decision then and there that it was time to cull.
Moving house at 34 weeks pregnant (10 months ago) was hard. My blog post about it here. I was limited to what I could achieve as I was on minor duties for low-fluid. During the moving process I had a gorgeous friend Sheryl at the beginning and the end to make sure nothing got passed her that we absolutely didn’t need. If I ummed and arghed at was gone, no hesitation, just chucked.
10 months later and there were eight boxes in our storeroom yet to be unpacked, eight boxes that I had been avoiding for months. I can’t believe they snuck by! How? I clearly didn’t want or need anything in them, as I had no idea what they were.
Out of those eight boxes I threw out 4. I then went on to cull my wardrobe, my office, the kid’s clothes and I am still culling.
Why do we hang on to so much sh*t?!
After patting myself on the back for years for being a non ‘hoarder’ I now have re-assessed my opinion and am going down the ‘great at culling’ route.
It’s like going for a run, you have to talk yourself into starting but once you finish you feel amazing.
The living and toy room are next on my tackle list so watch out for some great interior and styling posts soon.
When was the last time you did a cull? Have you culled during a move only to realise you weren’t that good at it after all?
