REAL ESTATE – there’s a new kid on the block….
I’m a bit of a fanatic when it comes to property. A lot of you may not know this but in my ‘past life’ I was a Finance Broker and part owner of a commercial finance broking firm. I have Owner Built a house, sub-divided land, built town houses and renovated units. Yep, that’s me! Surprised?! Don’t worry, I kind of surprise myself sometimes….
On top of this, I have bought and sold a significant amount of property in my time. I have tried to pick good times to buy and sell (if there’s such a thing), I have dealt with real estate agents and probably the most significant job of all, I have done my best to estimate fees. We all want to know how much we are going to make right!
I’ve been dormant in the real estate scene for the past few years and I’m finally feeling the itch to get active in the market again. But with the recent WA market report indicating that prices are the same now as they were in 2012 and housing prices decreased by 1.2% in the last year means I have to be really smart about how I approach the property market, after all, every penny counts right?!
Last week I sat down with founder and CEO of Purple Bricks, Ryan Dinsdale, who is bringing the flat-fee model to Perth and let me tell you, they are going to shake up the real estate market as we know it. For the first time ever, Perth residents will now have a choice when selling their home, and that choice comes down to savings.

Purple Bricks combine local property experts and technology to give you as the seller a better real estate experience through a highly competitive flat fee. This flat fee includes photography, a floor plan, advertising, auctions, viewings and open days. Their dedicated local expert looks after you from appraisal to settlement and the flat-fee I hear you ask??? $4,500 ($5,500 for an auction) no matter what your property is worth.
What I also loved about Purple Bricks is that they are integrating technology into the old school real estate game. Not only do you get a local property expert assigned to sell your home but you also have access to the dedicated property app to ensure you are up-to date 24/7. This app includes everything you need to know about where your property is at in the selling process. You get immediate feedback from people viewing your house as well as being able to see every offer that is presented to the real estate agent instantly.
This model is huge in England and has already gained serious momentum over East. It’s only a matter of time before the roll on effect happens over here for us too.
