I discovered something fabulous on our Bali holiday. I learnt this lesson by pure accident and worse yet, I learnt it from my husband and my 2 year old (sorry husband, I like to think I know everything from time to time).
As we arrived at the second villa on our stay the boys decided that they would settle in pretty quickly with a Bintang. As it was Lux’s sleep time off I went to check out the room and make sure a cot was set up ready to go.
Upon my return Lux was asleep on the couch next to Andrew.
As I went to pick him up to take him in bed Andrew said “what are you doing? Let him have a nap here”. It took all my might just to say OK, we will see how this goes. I let him roll with it.
2 hours later…..he woke up, bright as a button.
Lux has this amazing skill of being able to sleep anywhere when it’s his nap time. When lunch rolls around, a little stern word from Dad and off he drifts.
Sleep nazi step aside! Dad has this one under control.
Many days were spent with Lux sleeping on a couch for his lunch time nap. I tried not to take advantage of this fantastic skill but hey, we were on holidays.
It’s amazing what can happen when we let go of a little control.
Kids are amazing. They teach us the best lessons of all. I’m learning more and more about myself everyday.
