One of our jobs as parents is to try, where ever possible, to expose our kids to as many opportunities as we can. In an ideal world, you will see them fall in love with something and want whatever that something is, over and over again. But the exposure doesn’t always have to end in a passion or want to do this and only this. The result can simply be good, solid skills, that they can take with them for the rest of their lives.
I’m not sure if my kids will become the next Pat Rafter or Alicia Molik. In fact, I very much doubt it. But what I am sure of is that they now have the skills to be able to walk out onto a court, have a rally and play the game. Their confidence has grown, their friendship (or sibling rivalry, hehe) has matured and their love for the game has developed.
They loved experiencing the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program this term. The lighter racquets and the lighter, specially designed balls made it easy to learn, which means their skills have improved immensely. They get more enjoyment because they can see improvement and even my 5-year-old can now pack a punch when it comes to a serve!
We are blessed to live in the great state of Western Australia. Our weather is generally amazing all year round, which is perfect for keeping their skills up and means lots of family outings down to the local courts.
If you’re thinking about enrolling your kids into a tennis program next term, I highly recommend you check out the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program for your kids. For more information on a court near you head here.
