KIDS, CLEANING AND ME TIME

Family, Home

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to organise my time better to allow me to focus my attention on things that were demanding more and more of my attention every day.

2018 was a full on year for me. I started a new business whilst still running my social media and emcee work and I also started planning and designing for my new website Rayne Ella (launching very soon). As a single mum, the only adult I have to rely on is myself and anyone who is running a household, business and a family with young kids will know the multitude of tasks that have to be undertaken nearly every single day. Cleaning, cooking, washing, business, homework, driving…. well you catch my drift and sometimes, after the exhaustion and all the nagging, we go into what I like to call ‘robot mode’ where instead of asking for help, we just do it all ourselves.

This ‘do it all ourselves’ mentality is a killer! It’s not only detrimental to our health and wellbeing but it very rudely puts our wants and needs last. This causes us to be stressed or burnt out which in all honesty leaves us no good to anyone, especially our families.

That being said, I do find that it’s hard to put ourselves high up on our own ladder. We all know we should do it but it’s challenging to know when to ask for help, let alone admit to it. This year I knew something had to give and I had a brilliant and cheap idea on how I was going to take the pressure off, gain back some time and at least some of my SANITY.

The kids…. Yep. I’m getting the kids to help. We had a family meeting and talked about our wants, needs and expectations. We then decided on a family value system which we all signed and agreed to live by. They each have areas of the house they are responsible for and duties that need to be done to honour our value system. Honestly, I’m so happy with how they have taken this on and really embraced this new family dynamic.

For me, having a clean and tidy home was high on my personal needs list. Walking into a clean and clutter-free home is something that calms me and I’m sure it calms the children too. With the whole family taking care of the clutter part, I was able to take care of the clean part with Urban You.

Last year I found a professional cleaning service UrbanYou. Having only launched in Perth in the last few months, their 60-second booking process, secure payment and 100% satisfaction guarantee is only a few of the reasons I have booked with them again and again. With the kids pitching in around the house it gives me time to look after myself, more time with the kids and more hours in my businesses.

UrbanYou was a no brainer for me when it came to outsourcing. Personally, I just book a clean when I need it but if you’re the set and forget type of person then program it to an interval that best suits your needs.

UrbanYou have set me up with $30 off your first clean. Use the coupon code “RAYNE30” and give them a go yourself. It’s time to look after YOU!
