5 years ago a family day in Northbridge was definitely not on my radar. For many years Northbridge had been the place I would go when I was in the mood to party. Even then it would generally take a birthday or an event to get me there. Back in my day Northbridge had an unsafe reputation so I tended to go out in areas closer to home.
In more recent times we have headed in and checked out some of the new restaurants popping up all over the place. La Cholita, Viet Hoa, Lido to name a few. There was such a great vibe. So many people hopping in and out of bars, dining at restaurant, it had such a different feel, so groovy (can I still say that word)!!
About 6 months ago Mum and I took the kids to the Museum of Western Australia. Autumn absolutely loved it so with this in mind we decided to make the most of a gorgeous winters morning and headed out to explore Northbridge.
We started off with a crazy entrance into a gorgeous little café called Little Willy’s. A girlfriend recommended we check it out and it was lovely. The owners of Little Willy’s used to own and run our last local coffee shop The Dancing Goat so we new the coffee would be amazing. It didn’t disappoint! My avocado and salmon on rye with a poached egg was gorgeous, especially because it was the first time I had tucked into smoked salmon since falling pregnant. Yumo!!
The kids were getting wrestles so after breakfast we took a stroll to a nearby oval so Lux could have a kick of the footy.
From here we decided it was time to head to the museum. There were so many people up and about. We strolled past funky hidden café’s packed with people for breakfast and massive lines for dim sum.
We spent a good half an hour at ‘music land’ just outside the museum. A musical play ground for kids. Fun and educational. On the way home we stopped to watch the animals on the big screen in the court yard whilst chowing down on baby chino’s.
There was so much to do and see in Northbridge, it was fabulous way to spend the morning with my family. We will definitely be seeing you again soon.
