One of my fondest Christmas memories as a kid was when Mum and Dad would pile us into the Tarago and drive us around the streets hunting for Christmas trees. We would go from our house, around the neighbourhood and then into Perth City counting every lit up beautiful tree along the way.
At the time it was just a fun activity for us as a family to participate in, but now, as my kids get older, it’s suddenly become important to me to pass these Christmas traditions on to my children.
Although we will leave the driving Christmas Tree count until Christmas Eve, I took my kids into the city to check out the Christmas Lights Trail and wow, it was beautiful.
Malls, streets and parks across the city have been brightened with animated lights, projections and lively festivities. There are tonnes of festive street decorations lighting up the night, the kids were quite literally gob smacked.
There’s a Christmas Lights Tunnel, shadow play on a wall in Forrest Place, the Dream Catcher visual display in Central Park and of course…. plenty of big, beautiful, stunningly lit-up Christmas Trees.
With so much to see, the kids have been dying to check it out again. Well done City of Perth!! You definitely have us in the spirit of Christmas.
