How to: The perfect red lip…
I kicked this week off by attending the launch of Alison Jade’s new lipstick collection, Xtreme Lipstick Collection at her Cottesloe salon, Alison Jade Salon.
I’m sure there are a few of you out there like me who have always been afraid of the red lip. I would see it perfectly applied on gorgeous girls, it would look so good, so professional! Then off I would go to try and simulate the look but no, mega fail. I just have never been able to work it.
When I received this invite in the mail I thought, this is my chance. If I can’t learn to work it from here then it will be off my radar for-ev-a…
In the gorgeous surrounds of Alison’s studio, amongst media, socialites, friends and bloggers, I learnt how to apply this AW13 hot trend, the red lip.
For all these years I had been getting it so wrong! There is a very deliberate way to apply your makeup to compliment the red lip. Everyone knows the basic rule, pick eyes or lip, don’t do both, but they never elaborated. I am here to share the secret of the red lip from Alison Jade and take note, you don’t have to be Taylor Swift to rock it.
You must start with a good base. The AW13 season is all about the fresh dewy look.
Make sure you use concealer to get rid of dark circles and red spots. Red lipstick can make imperfections stand out so spend a bit of extra time perfecting your base.
Use a small amount of eye shadow. Alison Jade used Smoke and Mirrors for brunettes and Hopeless Romantic for blondes. Use a subtle amount of contouring along the lash and crease in your eyelid, make sure you blend.
PLEASE!!!! Tame your brows!! A beautifully groomed brow gives you the freedom of not having to wear heaps of makeup but still allows you to look polished.
Apply a small amount of blush on the apples of your cheeks and you are ready to conquer the lip.
If your lips are dry, start with a primer to make the coverage even. Apply your lipstick.
The mega secret at the end…… the nude lip liner!
Finish of your red lip with a nude lip liner This will smudge your lipstick right to the edge which helps to define your lip and being nude allows you to use it with all of your lip colours.
Give it a go! This is actually how I attended Gymberoo after the launch…
I am now a red lippy convert.
