I have three kids under three and my youngest is 10 weeks. Do you leave Van with anyone (other than hubby) and do they give expressed milk in a bottle, or do you just take him with you everywhere? Thanks! – Lauren Meredith
Sounds like we are very similar! 3 under 3 is not an easy gig.
I find it hard leaving myself with 3 kids let alone someone else!! So if I have a sitter then I usually split the kids up. Leave the older kids with the babysitter and drop Van to mum.
As a working mum I try to get the best of both worlds. I pretty much have taken Van with me everywhere. Business meetings, hairdressers, football and the rest. I’m more relaxed when I’m out if he is with me. If he has had enough I just pull up stumps and off we go.
I only tried him with an EMB last week and he was fine with it. My first one!! Both my other babies absolutely refused black and blue to have a bottle so it was quite refreshing. I was always on a timer with them, nipping in and out for feeds but they were happy to wait for me.
It’s been really easy to take Van with me as he has been happy to sleep in his pram, I can keep my routine everywhere I go. Read more about my newborn baby routine here.
Now that he is 3 months I admit it’s getting a little harder. During the day he is always with me but at night he likes to go to bed between 6.30 and 7.30pm and he sleeps most of the night. Because he is sleeping so well I like to put him to bed at home and not out and about. I want to continue to encourage his great night sleeping but trying to make it as uninterrupted as possible.
If I go out I will feed him before I go and if I have to leave before he is ready to go to bed I leave an EMB for Andrew or mum in case he wants a top up before bed. I’m very happy to leave him with mum.
If there is a good routine around bedtime you will find that whomever you leave him with, if they follow your routine then the baby will be relaxed and will know what is going on. My 3 month routine here.
I’m working towards him having 3 proper days sleeps and when this happens I will leave him home so he can get some good sleep. Feed times will be more structured then too so if you are uncomfortable leaving him with a bottle you can always nip home for feed time!
