My must read books…. or audio…
What are yours?
I’m not going to lie, I struggle to find the time to read books and have done so for some time now. It’s a catch 22 for me because as much as I find it hard to create time to read, I absolutely love extracting information from as many places as I possibly can.
Since having kids I haven’t had the time to engross myself in a seriously good novel. 50 Shades of Grey, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo… all were seen once they hit the big screen.
Finally, I discovered Audible. Please don’t roll your eyes at me! I know it’s been around forever! I’m just a slow learner. For the past few years mum has been on my case about downloading and using Audible, but as we all know, when it’s mum who’s giving the info well…… I’m sure you catch my drift.
Since giving in to my mums crazy good advice, I downloaded Audible and I’m loving it. I smash through at least 2 books a month which is a lot more than I would ever dream of being able to read in that time frame.
I listen to Audible in the car, when I’m exercising and even when I’m resizing pictures for my website. It’s easy to listen to a book when you don’t have to concentrate too hard on the task at hand.
Every month I’m going to share the love and let you in on a few of my favourite books. The books that I choose to share have really touched me in some way. They encourage growth, change and a new way of thinking. I’m learning more about myself and my business every day.
This month I have loved…..
The Power of Now by Echart Tolle.
It’s at least the third time I have delved into this book and it’s still one of my all time favourites. The Power of Now is an absolute life changer. It speaks about being present which is still one of the hardest practices to master. Our presence and non-presence can have a huge overall impact on our lives so it’s one of the biggest life changing skills we can try to learn. Fear, stress, anxiety, all of these issues are tackled in the Power of Now as well as easy steps to help you accept and overcome these emotions.
The 5 Love Languages of Children.
Children feel love in many ways. We don’t all recognise love and the way in which it’s given to us because we all have our own ‘love language’. This fantastic book has given me a better understanding of my three kids and their different love languages. For example, Autumn is ‘quality time’. She absolutely needs dedicated quality time out with me for her to recognise love. It has taught me that we as parents do what comes naturally to us and we do what we think is best for our child. It has also taught me how to go deeper and how to make sure that I’m giving my kids the love they need in the way that they will appreciate it most.
Have any or you read (or listen) to these books? What did you think?
